Who can forget the trifling hijinks and sizzling chemistry in the 2001 rom-com Two Can Play That Game, starring Vivica Fox and Morris Chestnut as a couple in the thick of relationship drama?
Sixteen years later that zany love story is back! Director and executive producer Je’Caryous Johnson has adapted Mark A. Brown’s screenplay for the stage, with Fox reprising her role as the blunt, relationship rule-reciting Shanté Smith. Fox’s leading man this time around is actor Columbus Short. Rounding out the cast are Porsha Williams, Gary Dourdan, Carl Payne, RonReaco Lee, Cocoa Brown and Vivian Green.
“Bringing Two Can Play That Game to the stage is going to be EPIC,” said Fox in a press release. “I want fans to laugh and cry and high five and also learn some new dating rules when they come to see it.”
Curtains go up on the national tour October 13 at the Cannon Center for The Performing Arts in Memphis, Tennessee. The play ends December 3 at Chicago’s Arie Crown Theater.
