WATCH: Proud Mary Keeps on Burnin’

Taraji P. Henson is crushing it. Cookie from TV’s Empire is making waves on the big screen in 2018 with Sony’s action flick Proud Mary. She stars as a  character named Mary, clad in black leather and high heeled boots, that works as a professional assassin in Boston. Think Pam Grier’s Foxy Brown meets Charlize Theron’s Atomic Blond (yes, there will be wigs). When one of her hits goes bad, she crosses paths with a young boy (played by newcomer Jahi Di’Allo Winston) and turns over a new leaf. The movie also stars veteran actor Danny Glover and HTGAWM’s Billy Brown. Iranian action director Babak Najafi (2016’s London Has Fallen) directs and by the looks of it, there are going to be plenty of amazing action sequences and shootouts. Proud Mary hits theaters on January 12, 2018. Taraji will also be starring in the upcoming revenge dramady Acrimony.
