Phylicia Rashad Leads Secret Ops Group In New Amazon Series

For years, Phylicia Rashad was America’s most beloved mom on The Cosby Show, she rocked Broadway in A Raisin in the Sun, and became the first black woman to win a Tony Award. Most recently she’s been playing Diane Dubois, the ruthless mother of politician Angelo Dubois inEmpire.

Perhaps we’ve seen nothing yet. Rashad is set to co-star in the upcoming Amazon Prime series Jean-Claude Van Johnson as the badass boss of co-star actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme, according to shadowandact.com. She’s the head of a secret-ops group and he is simply known as “Johnson” who is being billed as the most dangerous undercover operative in the world, so says shadowandact.com. Johnson, who was bored in retirement is enticed to get back into action by a former lover. The stage is set for him to go head-to-head with his greatest enemy, a Bulgarian drug cartel.

The show will also star Kat Foster and Moises Arias and be executive produced by Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Van Damme, Peter Atencio and Dave Callaham, according to shadowandact.om. The series, directed by Atencio and written by Callaham begins streaming on December 15.
