LeBron James Brings New Hoop Series to YouTube Red

King James is hard at work off the court, this time bringing a docuseries called Best Shot to YouTube Red. LeBron’s SpringHill Entertainment will co-produce the show and it will feature former NBA player Jay Williams as the coach of a group of high school hoopers. Williams, an analyst for ESPN, is no stranger to television. According to The Hollywood Reporter global head of original content for YouTube Susan Daniels had this to say.

“With Jay Williams as their mentor, Best Shot will take an unfiltered look at the complex decisions these teens face every day. We are excited to partner with Boardwalk Pictures and Blue Ribbon Content, as well as director Michael John Warren, whose powerful storytelling will guide us through this journey as we root for the students to win — on and off the court.”

This is another example of a social media platform broadcasting original, unscripted sports content and is likely a move by YouTube to compete with Facebook’s No Script starring Marshawn Lynch and LaVar Ball’s Ball in the Family. Best Shot is set to air in 2018 on YouTbe Red, the $10/ month premium service from YouTube available in select countries.
