How To Be a Morning Person: Morning Routine Tips

Currently it is 7:54 am.

I wanted to give you guys some tips on how to be a morning person.  I typically am not a morning person, but lately I have been!

I’ve noticed the changes in my morning routine have actually been helping me.


…okay, I’m back, I had to make my coffee.

Tip #1: Allow Your Mind and Body to Wake Up

Have you thawed out yet?  This is time where you accept the morning “time”

Pray. Meditate. Give Thanks.  

I’m not the type of person who can just quickly get out of bed, brush my teeth, wash my face, and leave the house within 10 minutes.  Trust me, I know a few people who do that and are the MEANEST in the morning!  Don’t let that be you.

Before I even get out of the bed, I sit up and drink a glass of lemon water I have waiting for me on my night stand from the night before.

Drinking lemon water in the morning helps flush the digestive system and rehydrate the body.  Your body has been sleep for about 8 hours right?  Yes, so hydrating in the morning is really important because simply put, you’re insides are dry and are in need that “reboot.”  It also helps your skin stay looking fresh and reduces puffy eyes in the morning.  Be aware…you will go to the bathroom, nonetheless your stomach will be on flat flat.

Tip #2: Stretch It Out

Aside from it feeling good, stretching actually does help you wake up and relieve stress.

I’m not saying you have to lay out your yoga mat and have an intensive pilates session, but just a simple neck roll, 30 second bend over and touch your toes, and a few arm rolls will improve your morning.  When sleeping, our muscles lose tone.  Stretching will increase flexibility and range of motion in the muscles and joints, improving circulation while relieving stress.  Wake up your brain and get your blood flowing for the day.

Tip #3: Eat Breakfast

The most important meal of the day!

You guys know I’m a foodie, so this is probably the best tip I can give you.  Eating a healthy breakfast in the morning lowers cholesterol, improves memory, concentration and performance throughout your day.  Also, you tend to eat less throughout the day, allowing your body to engage in more physical activity.

I’m not saying you need to cook a full on buffet, but try grabbing an apple and granola bar for a start.  Then, try having some plain greek yogurt and a bowl of fruit, avocado toast, or a bowl of cereal.  Next, maybe a veggie omelet, or a green smoothie.  There are plenty of easy, on-the-go healthy breakfast recipes.

Are you a tea or coffee person?  I happen to be both, it just depends on what kind of mood I’m in that day.  Have your hot cup of joy with breakfast or to-go on your way out.

Keep your breakfast light and simple during the week and on the weekends is when you pull out the pancakes and waffles.

Tip #4: Listen to Music

It is a proven fact that listening to your favorite songs in the morning can get you inspired to both achieve and strive for certain things.  I know we have daily goals, small and big.

So play that song that gets you in the mood.

Tip #5: Pack Your Lunch the Night Before

If you’re like me, I like to pack my lunch instead of buying food everyday.  It saves you money, time, and the grief of not knowing what’s in your food.  Whatever you cooked the night before, save some for lunch the next day and add a few snacks in between.

Start off the week with my morning tips and observe how your mornings will positively transform.
