It looks like Beyonce really is the Queen B, and the Beyhive is buzzing. Thanks to her hit visual album Lemonade and world tour, Mrs. Carter is the highest-paid woman in music in 2017, according to an annual Forbes list. The former Destiny’s Child front woman edged out popular singers Adele and Taylor Swift for the top spot.
According to Forbes, Beyonce earned some $105 million pretax from record sales and from her “Formation” concert tour. She also has her successful Ivy Park fashion line and other business interests. So it looks like the R&B and pop diva won’t need that Grammy award that Adele symbolically broke in half to share with Beyonce after she won for Album of the Year in February.
But we’re sure the Brit superstar, who came in second on the Forbes list with $69 million, is happy for Bey. In 2016, Adele sang Lemonade’s praises on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of herself fanning out with a picture of Beyonce.
“Beyonce is the most inspiring person I’ve ever had the pleasure of worshipping. Her talent, beauty, grace and work ethic are all in a league of their own. I appreciate you so much! Thank god for Beyoncé X.”.
Lemonade was a smash with both critics and fans, giving Beyoncé her sixth solo No. 1 album. The supporting Formation World Tour, Forbes reports, grossed a quarter of a billion dollars. Then she took time off as she and husband Jay-Z welcomed twins Rumi and Sir this summer.
Taylor Swift came in third with $44 million and Celine Dion took the fourth spot, earning some $42 million after taking a break from her Las Vegas residency following the death of her husband Rene Angelil in January 2016.
